Ferguson Cowboys Up at NSW Title

March 8, 2009

8th March 2009

February 28th saw Warren Ferguson and his team attack the NSW Title at Parramatta City Raceway (PCR) with their sponsors - Deco Glaze, Fruitwheels, Visual Impact and G&S Forklifts in the stands courtesy of a Ferguson Autosports arranged corporate box.

Also arranged for the night would be two seater rides for primary sponsor Jason Hedges of Deco Glaze and Warrens Partner, Kirstin Money.

With the shiny freshly painted black Deco Glaze n32 Maxim delivered to the track in the Fruitwheels Kenworth, the team was ready. Hot laps went well with the car looking fast, however a horribly rough track developed for time trials which did not work out well for Warren. His qualifying time left him disappointed and in 35th spot out of the 57 cars on hand. It was going to be a long night just to make the field.

With determination on his side Warren decided it was time to "cowboy up" and attack the rough track in a car that sometimes looked like a bucking bronco. From the back of his heat he ended up about half a car length shy of a transfer straight to the A-Main. This meant the B-main would be the next target. With a mid field starting position, the N32 Maxim went forward only to finish one spot shy of a transfer leaving Warren as first reserve to the A-Main.

"I was happy with our progress in the difficult conditions tonight. We just kept ending up one spot short. Qualifying is so important in this format, you can't give your competitors any extra advantage" said Warren. "It was great to see all our sponsors on hand, I think we have put on a real show for them tonight, with a bit of luck we can continue this into the A" quipped Warren.

Unlucky for some but lucky for the Ferguson Autosports team, an incident before a lap was complete allowed Warren into the field.

Starting off the rear in position 24, Warren had moved forward to 15th after 15 of the 35 laps were complete only to have another competitor make contact with the number 32 resulting in wheel and suspension damage putting Warren out of the race. It was a disappointing end as the team really felt like a top 10 result was possible.

The team now gets prepared for the 2nd last race of the season at PCR on March 14th where they hope to turn around some of the wretched luck that has plagued them.

Thank you to our sponsors and our loyal group of supporters for their tremendous support.

See you at the races!!
