Ferguson Finishes Year with Top 5 Result

6th April 2009

The Ferguson Autosports team finished the 08/09 race season on a high note with a strong 5th place run for Warren Ferguson at Parramatta City Raceway on March 28th .

After missing two races through rain the Ferguson Autsports team was ready to battle the 56 cars on hand in time trials. Warren's qualifying run was second quickest in the N32 Maxim car and due to the great time he would start from position 6 in the heat.

The Deco Glaze, Fruitwheels, Visual Impact, G&S Forklifts machine was running hard and a few sharp moves had the number 32 in a strong 5th spot right behind the dueling 3rd and 4th place cars. This result would take Warren to the all important Dash event.

The dash draw on the main straight saw a young fan draw position 2 outside front row for Warren and was rewarded with a DecoGlaze cap. With some wheel banging by a fellow competitor on the roll around laps everyone eagerly awaited the start which found Warren racing into turn 1 on the high side only to be hit again by the same competitor leaving Warren in 2nd place. A yellow flag came out and it was found that the leader had cut his right front tire, this handed the lead back to the 32 and Warren went on to take out a dominant dash win.

"I was a great run" said Warren, "There was some unnecessary banging out there, but we had a strong car and took the win. It was nice to be able to thank our sponsors and team during the on track interview as it has been a tough year".

The A-main saw Warren race from position 2 and running in touch with the leaders the entire race that included a number of red and yellow caution lights for on track crashs and spins. With about 5 laps remaining Warren drew level with the 3rd place car coming off turn 2 but the 32 car suddenly got sideways and cost a position. Making up much of the lost ground Warren challenged the fourth place car but finished a great 5th place.

"Its a great way to finish the season. Our sponsors really are a bunch of great people who support our team. They really deserve this type of result as do my team which this night was a little short and consisted 100% of family, I'm glad we can give it to them." said Warren.

The Ferguson Autosport team will now start the task of rebuilding the car over the off-season in preparation for the 2009/2010 season. We look forward to continuing our association with our valued sponsors and will be looking for some additional crew members.
