Solid results for Warren Ferguson to start 2010

January 14, 2010

The Ferguson Autosports team dropped the recently freshened motor into the Maxim frame rails on Christmas Eve, ready for the PCR international season due to start on Boxing Day. Unfortunately this was delayed by rain to December 27th. The Fruitwheels, Why Walk used Cars, Deco Glaze, G&S, Visual Impact sponsored Maxim team was ready for 5 nights of racing over the next 14 days.

With a large field of 45 cars on hand including NASCAR superstar Tony Stewart, the team qualified well and transferred through their heat into the A-main. Unfortunately some tight racing found Warren and the #32 upside down after the cars front end was knocked out. The event was marred by crashes. Bring on Night two!!

December 29th saw a 49 car field on hand with all going well until a heat race spin on the first lap sent Warren to the rear of the field position 12. He made it back to 7th place by the checkers two spots short of a transfer. This mean't running the B-main which Warren won going away - having up to a half lap lead until a late caution. The A-main made for little passing with a lot of follow the leader racing. Warren advanced to 17th at the end.

Next was the Scott Darley $50k memorial race over two nights. Delayed until January 3rd due to more Rain, the 55 cars on hand including 10 international professional drivers, were greeted by a dry race track. Warren drove the #32 Maxim into 11th qualifying spot which allowed the team to transfer through the all important heat into the A-main. A 14th place A-main finish on what became a "rubber-down" race track put the team in a great position for night two.

Night 2 found Warren running second in his dash event and lining up in 12th for the A-main. The 24 car, 40 lap race was torrid with Warren eventually finished 15th after falling a few spots at the end with a deflating tyre.

January 9th was the last race during Warrens Holiday away from his day job. The team struggled to come to grips with an inconsistent race track this night and after winning the B-main by a half lap could only get to 15th in the A-main.

"All things considered we had some great runs through this international period we made every main which is not easy when there is around 50 cars there each night", said Warren. "We couldn't do this with out the support of our sponsors and crew who have been fantastic. It was great to see people from Fruitwheels and Deco Glaze at the events. George, Anthony, Lisa and Matt were great help with the car."

The team now takes a well earned rest as they re-group for the January 23rd show at PCR.
