Team DRIVER

Warren Ferguson

2007/2008 Sprintcar season will see Warren back in his own "family" car which was purchased recently from Tony Stewart Racing in the USA.

Warrens racing experience is extensive with some 15 years spent behind the wheel of Sprintcars, Speedcars, Compact Speedcars and Go Karts at various times.

More Information: With Warren's parents introducing him to the Sydney Showground Speedway as a baby, coupled with his growing up just down the road from Parramatta City Raceway at Granville, it was only a matter of time before Warren would be hooked on speedway - Sprintcars to be precise.

While Go-Karts couldn't be afforded at a young age, BMX became the option with multiple wins along with state and national plates. Warren's move to Sprintcar circles came as a crewman on the Mineeff family Sprintcar in the mid 80's and the next 10 years were spent doing the hard yards as a Sprintcar mechanic with a number of drivers and teams including Kerry Madsen who he worked with for 6 years including some time in the USA in 1991.

During Warren's time as a mechanic he raced dirt speedway Go-karts to numerous wins including the State Title, there was a dabble with Compact Speedcars and the odd B-main in the Mineeff Sprintcar. The desire to race had always been there, but not always the funds. Things changed in 1996 when Warren's sister Lisa said "We're buying a Speedcar!" and the real racing began.

A trip to the USA in 1996 found Warren working with the Gary Stanton Mopar team while collecting bits for the new speedcar. Once back home and racing it didn't take long for this family based team to get up to speed. The next few years found Warren being force on the Sydney speedcar scene with numerous feature race top 5's and podiums including a third place in the State Title and making the final at the Newcastle National Title with 80 cars present.

Whilst racing the speedcar Warren had kept his Sprintcar contacts close at hand and was selected by Ivan Palmer of IP Motorsport to drive the number 19 Sprintcar. The team spannered by Ivan and Warren’s family won two feature events along with numerous podiums and top 5's at the tough Parramatta City Raceway. During this time sponsorship from Graphic Glazing came onboard in the way of Warrens long time friend Jason Hedges and continued onto the J&W Motorsport number 48 car run by Warren after Ivan Palmer decided to retire as a car owner. Due to the costs involved the J&W Motorsport team only ran one season running 7th in the PCR track championship before the team was sold putting Warren on the side lines for a few years.

Never one to leave it alone, Warren continued to work in the sport as a mechanic helping a number of new drivers get up to speed as well as working with the Casey’s Store/Tim Shaffer team and Brian Paulus' Who Monsters team at two of the PCR World of Outlaws events.

For 2006/2007 Warren joined Corfield Woods Motorsport with primary sponsorship from Jason Hedges' Deco Glaze company. Warren found himself easing back into Sprintcar competition with solid results attained from a limited campaign at PCR.

2007/2008 has seen a later than planned start to the season and a move from Corfield Woods to his own family based team with the same trusted backing from the previous years sponsors.

Warren’s drive, determination and experience in Sprintcar circles will see him and the team succeed as they build the operation. Look out for Warren and the Ferguson Autosport team to be upfront with their fresh arsenal of equipment.

Team MEMBERS

Lisa Ferguson

Crew Chief

With an extensive history having worked on Sprintcars, Speedcars, Compact Speedcars and Go Karts, Lisa is no stranger in getting her hands dirty in this mans world. Lisa's desire to be around motorsport - especially speedway, came from her family visits to the races as a child.

Her ability to be hands on and support was in some ways pushed upon her due to all of the racing her brother Warren has done. Whether it was BMX, Speedcars or Sprintcars, Lisa has always been part of her brother 's team and often with a leading role. Including sponsoring his Go-Kart efforts and at one point owning the potent No. 20 Esslinger midget that Warren drove with success.

Lisa always wanted to learn the mechanical side and has a firm grasp of what is required. She relishes her role around the team, be it changing gears, setting the tires or changing a front end. Never one to avoid a challenge, Lisa embarked on a trip to the USA some years ago and hooked up with fellow Australian Dwayne Lawrence who was a mechanic on the Casey's General Store Outlaw car driven by Johnny Herrera. During this trip she worked with both the Casey's team and the Billy Wilburn sprintcar team to gain valuable experience.

A while after this trip Lisa married Dwayne Lawrence, who incidentally has worked with many leading sprintcar drivers from both Australia and the USA and is a well respected Crew Chief in his own right currently working for the Garry Rush team and with Donny Schatz in both Australia and the US.

One thing is assured Lisa will never be far from a sprintcar race and will almost always have her hands dirty as a well respected member of the team.

George and Judy Ferguson

Team Support

The parents of Warren, George and Judy have supported Warrens racing interests from Day 1. Wether it was trudging off to BMX events 48 weeks of the year in the early days or driving the transporter to the race track they have done it - selflessly.

Judy keeps the stats and ensures the team have supplies be it at the shop or the track while George is always there to drive the truck and ride the Quad, changing shocks and keeping the car looking sharp. They can often be found lending a hand at the shop building the car on many a late night, the shop of course is provided by them too.

They are an integral part of this team and without them, their support and desire to go racing, much of this just wouldn't be possible.

Kirstin Money

Team Support

As Warren's partner, Kirstin is a newcomer to the sport having only been aquainted with Sprintcars over the last two years since they met.

She provides a solid backbone for Warren and the mental support that is required for him to stay focused when racing. Website and press release duties will fall under Kirstins domain ensuring that sponsors and fans are kept up to date with the latest news from Ferguson Autosports.

Her support is 110% and she harnesses the desire to be successful and enjoy racing like all other team members.

Jason Hedges

Sponsor/Team Support

As the Director of Deco Glaze and major sponsor to the Ferguson Autosports team, Jason is the real reason Warren started racing again in 2006. In his words - "it was time to go racing again" after Jason co-owned the number 48 Graphic Glazing car back in 2003 with Warren.

His love of sprintcar racing goes back to the early days at PCR in the 70's when he would visit the races with his family. Jason and Warren have been mates since they were 5 years old discussing many times at primary school who would win next weeks feature race at PCR.

A keen drag racer himself, Jason enjoys nothing more than being part of the action in the pits with this tight knit team when ever time away from his business allows.
